Recommended Books (by senior from M109)

Hi! ME109 (sem5 going on to sem6)

Here are books I found useful while in sem 2-

Mama patho
good for understanding the fundamentals of pathology. difference between mama and papa (in my opinion) is the details regarding genetics, and minor diseases. personally i look more into HOW a pathology looks like in a clinical setting, so mama was sufficient.

Macleod's clinical Examination
lecturers in IMU and CSU sessions are based upon Macleod's methods. you are expected by lecturers to
a) look at the video
b) read through Macleod's (just browse thru)
c) embarrass yourself during session (because let's face it, nobody is perfect ;) )

the Atlas of Medically Important Parasites
will be very useful, in OSPE study. also, if you consult Dr. Stephan Ambu, he will tell you which to look out for. if you get him for parasito lab, you are in luck!

Microbiology made ridiculously simple
this book saved my life studying Microbiology. for microbiology, you would NEED a book to study because lectures will be very superficial.

LANGE Microbiology
the summary of microbes and USMLE-type question at the back is hugely helpful while studying / memorising. also this book will be useful throughout your medical course.

Immunology and pathology can be studied through notes - the lecturers are pretty good in explaining the fundamentals. however, its quite difficult to grasp the details of microbiology without a book. when in doubt, just buy microbio books. the rest can be bought later.

just my 2 cents. good luck in sem 2, and enjoy your studies! i hope it helped.
